The dreamer dreaming
Looking up and removing his cowl
No stars are gleaming

Hear the hooting owl
A shadow shifts
Monster on the prowl

The clouds disappear
Moonlight shine down
Oh, a village's near

He enters town
No one's around
All curtains are drawn

Silence, not a single sound
It lies heavy in the air
Not a creak, not the bark of a hound

He reaches the square
This is getting severe
Still not a soul anywhere

No stands selling beer
No night market stores
One a wall there's a bloody red smear...

It is behind him!

The fiend roars
He draws his sword
It advances on all fours

Oh, dear Lord!
A flash from the side
There's a whole horde!

Hero takes it in stride
No way he'll withdraw
They collide

A great big paw
The hero's floored
look at that snapping maw

Hero deserves a reward.
Wait, there's a flaw
He slashes where there's no ward

Cracks the jaw
Severs a spinal chord
He's fast on the draw

Behind him one throws a gourd
Damn the monsters' persistence
Now he's ready to go all aboard

Red in the distance
Surely this is just spite!
This ends the hero's assistance

The monsters howl in delight
Oh, poor town
Their hero snatched by morning light

Because it seems to me the very best dreams end in the most interesting places and it's usually on Mondays just to spite.

Ever before seen a battle scene portrayed like this? XD

Yay, you did it! :D

I like your poetry style. The lines are short and simple, but convey a lot of feeling. It works especially well with the battle bits.

Now I need to start on mine. :XD:
